RMHC to Sponsor Talk on ART Therapy

Kevin Kip, PhD, FAHA, will present "Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for Military Related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder" on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 8:45 - 10:45a.m. in Westside BC. Dr. Kip is an Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Research Center at the University of South Florida, College of Nursing. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh (1998) with an emphasis on chronic disease epidemiology and biostatistics. His most current research is in the area of novel forms of psychotherapy, including ART, in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He will discuss this new exposure-based therapy that incorporates use of eye movements administered in a brief treatment period. ART is designed to minimize anxiety and body sensations associated with recall of traumatic memories, and to replace distressing images with favorable ones.
