The Florida Medicaid Drug Therapy Management Program for Behavioral Health launches their new website

The Florida Medicaid Drug Therapy Management Program for Behavioral Health recently opened their new website for http://medicaidmentalhealth.org/. The website serves as a resource for Medicaid behavioral health providers in the State of Florida and provides news and announcements of program activities and events. The goal of the program is to work collaboratively with prescribers in the Medicaid program to improve the quality and efficiency of the prescribing of mental health drugs, and to improve the health outcomes of Medicaid beneficiaries with a mental illness.

The website features Psychotherapeutic Medication Guidelines for adults and children developed by expert panels and updated regularly. The focus for 2014 is on quality monitoring and safety. They recently published a set of guidelines for monitoring the physical health and side effects of psychiatric medications in the severely mentally ill populations (available on the website). Additional features of the website include a link to the Florida Pediatric Psychiatry Hotline that provides consultation for primary care providers in meeting the needs of children with psychiatric conditions.
