Dr. Roger Peters was recently appointed to the Florida Supreme Court's Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts.

Congratulations to Dr. Roger Peters

Dr. Roger Peters, Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy, was recently appointed to the Florida Supreme Court's Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts. During the past four years, he has served on the Supreme Court's Task Force for Mental Health and SubstanceAbuse Issues in the Courts, and the Task Force has now been reconstituted as a standing committee of the Supreme Court, via an administrative order of the Court. The Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts is tasked with "addressing the needs of court-engaged individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders through the use of differentiated case management principles and other evidence-based and emerging best practices". Over the next two years the Steering Committee will develop statewide standards for veterans treatment courts, juvenile drug courts, family dependency drug courts, andmental health courts.
