The mission of the Center is to promote data-driven, evidence-based solutions to end veteran homelessness. Dr. Rigg delivered the webinar to over 500 VA providers and researchers about the causes and consequences of the opioid epidemic and their implications for veterans. He also discussed the challenges that rural areas face when trying to address the epidemic and interventions that hold promise for lowering morbidity and mortality caused by opioid misuse. The webinar, titled "The Opioid Crisis in Rural America," is based on his recent article published in the International Journal of Drug Policy concerning the geographic distribution of opioid-related deaths.
