USF Releases Results of Yearlong Study of Youth Mental Health in Sarasota County

CBCS researchers were involved in conducting an environmental scan of youth mental health services in Sarasota County to understand the current needs of children, adolescents, and young adults around mental health. The SARASOTA COUNTY Child and Youth Mental Health Environmental Scan included analysis of existing data, input from parents with children in services and young adults in services, and feedback from key stakeholders in the community. It also included a cost analysis of untreated and undertreated mental illness, as well as a strategic framework for incorporating findings into improvement efforts going forward. The project was funded by the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

During a recent invitation-only sharing event for community members in Sarasota County, Dr. Anna Abella, Dr. Norin Dollard and Dr. John Robst were on hand to share their findings. There was much positive feedback from both attendees and the press.
