Bell, Karen, Au.D.

Karen earned her Au.D. from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2015 and completed her 4th year externship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She was awarded the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship in June 2015, and is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program for Communication Sciences and Disorders at USF. Karen is an active member in the Auditory and Speech Sciences Laboratory in the Global Speech and Hearing Center, under the supervision of Drs. Ann and Dave Eddins. Her primary research interests include speech perception in complex listening environments, cognitive memory, and neural plasticity. Specifically, she is interested in adults with normal hearing, who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI) and have difficulty understanding speech in noise. Her secondary research interests include intervention and outcome measures in this population.
