USF-CSD Bridging Communication with the Community
CSD Clinical Instructor Darla Freeman-LeVay and her students ventured into the Tampa Bay area to provide speech therapy services to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients. Ms. Freeman-LeVay is a 2011 National MS Milestone Award recipient who has provided services to MS patients for over 5 years. This semester she and future speech-language pathologists traveled to Carrollwood, Largo, Zephyrhills and Trinity reaching nearly 100 MS patients. Their therapy provided patients with practical strategies to improve cognitive function. This summer the group will return to the USF campus at the Morsani building for a 5-week comprehensive group experience.
