CBCS Faculty Member Appointed to Editorial Board for Harm Reduction Journal

Khary Rigg, PhD, was recently appointed to the editorial board for Harm Reduction Journal (HRJ).  HRJ, published by BioMed Central, is an online peer-reviewed journal that publishes research focusing on the prevalent patterns of psychoactive drug use, the public policies meant to control them, and the search for effective methods of reducing the adverse medical, public health, and social consequences associated with both drugs and drug policies. The journal is especially interested in studies of the evolving patterns of drug use around the world, their implications for the spread of HIV/AIDS, and in rigorous evaluations of innovative drug policies and practices. Although many journals publish drug use research, HRJ is the first to focus exclusively on this public health model and to make contemporary research on harm reduction freely available online. Dr. Rigg's responsibilities will include peer-reviewing manuscript submissions, contributing content (i.e., articles, editorials), acting as an ambassador for the journal, organizing sessions at the International Harm Reduction Conference, and providing input into strategy regarding the journal's future direction. Dr. Rigg also sits on the editorial boards for Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, Qualitative Social Work, and Substance Use & Misuse.
