Dr. Kathy Moore Appointed Executive Director of FMHI

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kathleen Moore to the position of Executive Director of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute effective the 23rd of August. Dr. Moore joined the University of South Florida in 1999 as the Coordinator of Statistical Research in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy. In 2004 she became Research Assistant Professor in MHLP and was subsequently promoted in 2010 to Associate. Dr. Moore received her B.A. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and both her M.A. and Ph.D. in social/health psychology from Kent State University followed by a fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Moore has served as PI or Co-PI for over five million in external funding to support her research.

As Executive Director, Dr. Moore will provide leadership for the research and training activities of FMHI so it can continue to fulfill its state-mandated mission. She will be the sixth Executive Director in the forty-plus year history of the Institute. I look forward to having her join us as a member of the CBCS Leadership team.

At the same time, I would like to ask that you join me in expressing appreciation to Dr. Mary Armstrong who has served as Director of FMHI since September of 2014. During her leadership, Dr. Armstrong provided valuable stewardship of FMHI and provided leadership for development of the FMHI Community forum. This successful event is held yearly and is a collaborate event involving many units within the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences including MHLP, Criminology, Child and Family Studies, and Social Work. She also fostered important relationships both state and university wide.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Moore to this important position and thanking Dr. Armstrong for her dedicated leadership!

Thank you,
