FMHI FACULTY and STAFF NOTES

A Fond Farewell for Dr. Larry Dupree After 30 Years of Service

After 30 years of service to FMHI, Dr. Larry Dupree retired at the end of 2007. Larry served two terms as Chair of the Department of Aging and Mental Health (1983-1989 and 1999-2006), and also served in many other roles within FMHI (director of several treatment programs from 1978-1984; Associate Chair – twice;  and on the staff of the Department of Child and Family Studies in 1977). In addition, he helped to develop and co-direct other projects at the university such as the Geriatric Education Center, and the graduate mental health counseling track in the USF Dept. of Gerontology. He is also highly regarded outside of FMHI (on federal expert panels, co-chair of the Florida Coalition for Optimal Mental Health and Aging).

AMH incorporated a tribute to him at the annual holiday party on December 12. Former FMHI employees attended the occasion, including AMH’s first chair, Dr. Roger Patterson who hired Dr. Dupree.
