With great sadness, the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program at USF announces the passing of retired professor, Dr. Gary DuDell on April 13, 2016.

Dr. DuDell was a full time faculty member at USF from 1987 – 2015. He served as the coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Integrative Mental Health Care, which provides the clinical perspectives and tools necessary for the emerging and exciting field of collaborative health care. Along with his teaching responsibilities, he also coordinated field placement activities for practicum and intern students.

In addition, Dr. DuDell was a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for over thirty five years, providing individual, couples, family and group counseling in the Tampa Bay area. He was a Certified Addictions Professional, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and clinical supervisor for registered mental health interns being trained to become licensed by the State of Florida. He held three graduate counseling degrees, and was trained by some of the finest psychotherapists in the country from such nationally known training centers as The Ackerman Institute in New York City and The Family Therapy Practice Center in Washington.

Dr. DuDell was an amazing soul who had a big impact on people from all walks of life.

Many people have asked how they can contribute to a memorial in honor of Dr. Dudell. For alumni who are in need of counseling services they are being offered off campus at The LIFE center The LIFE Center is offering support groups for the loss of Gary with a request of a $15 donation per person.
