FMHI Celebrates 43rd Anniversary

On the evening of Friday, November 3rd, the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute celebrated its 43rd anniversary by honoring the legacy of Senator de la Parte who was indeed "An extraordinary public servant and a champion for those without a voice".  The evening began with a welcome speech from CBCS Associate Dean Dr. Catherine Batsche who spoke about the history of the Institute and the outstanding achievements of many FMHI Affiliates. Also speaking at the event was Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman who shared her relationship to FMHI and the community and presented a plaque signed by the members of the County Commission that recognized FMHI as a driving force in improving services for individuals with mental health and substance use problems. Dr. David Chiriboga presented Dr. Kathleen Moore with the Outstanding Behavioral Health Service Research award. In his presentation he highlighted how Dr. Moore's evaluation, research, and community engagement reflect the spirit of Senator de la Parte. The evening concluded with a speech from FMHI Executive Director Dr. Mary Armstrong and the dissemination of the 2016 FMHI Annual Report.
