The School of Social Work Hosted Fundraiser to Build Student Scholarship Fund The School of Social Work recently hosted a very successful Scholarship Breakfast Fundraiser. There were over 150 alumni, community partners, students, faculty, staff and friends present at this wonderful event. As a result of this event the School of Social Work was able to significantly build their Social Work Student Scholarship Fund. Dr. Riaan van Zyl, Director of the School of Social Work, gave a powerful address on the importance of social justice and making our world better for everyone. Dr. Van Zyl shared his experience working with President Nelson Mandela to build a prison specializing in rehabilitation of young offenders. The School of Social Work would like to thank Dr. Catherine Batsche for an inspiring welcome message, MSW student speaker, Daniel Schadrac, BA, and BSW student speaker, Simeon Baxter, for their courageous reflections on their personal journeys. The School of Social Work is very grateful to Cheryl Harrell, LCSW, BSW '80, for the Alumni reflection. A very special thank you to everyone who attended and to our table sponsors:
