Dr. David Eddins, CBCS Faculty Member, Achieves USF Faculty Outstanding Research Achievement Award

David Eddins, PhD, CCC-A, Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Director of the Auditory and Speech Sciences Laboratory, and Associate Director of the Global Center for Hearing and Speech Research, received the USF Faculty Outstanding Research Achievement Award on October 23rd at the Annual Luncheon to honor the award recipients. Dr. Eddins is an expert in hearing and communication. His research focuses on the development and evaluation of new hearing enhancement technologies including hearing aids and assistive technology; understanding age-related hearing loss and neural plasticity; development of novel diagnostic methods; and measurement and modeling of dysphonic voice quality. Eddins began 2016 with five funded research projects spanning each of these focal areas. During 2016, he submitted eight new research grant proposals - seven to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and one to industry. He received four new research grants in 2016; three grants from NIH and one from the Department of Defense; and two of these grants were in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. In addition, Eddins published three journal articles, ten conference presentations, and served as the President of the Florida Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America.
